Home to one of the oldest Gay Ski Weeks in the world, Mammoth Mountain has a strong connection to the LGBTQ community. After 16 years, Mammoth Gay Ski Week is still going strong. This week, if you’re unfamiliar with the concept of Ski Pride, is for everyone who’s supportive of the gay community and open to its unapologetic expressions of sexuality. In other words, if you’re thinking about visiting a resort during its Gay Ski Week, you typically don’t need to be gay to feel welcome and have a good time, but you should also be prepared for Gay Pride on the ski slopes because that’s what you’re going to get.
Ski Pride Lasts Longer than a Week
We eventually want to add to this website and include a comprehensive list of events and planning tips for every Gay Ski Week out there. We also want this site to promote greater acceptance and assimilation of LGBTQ individuals throughout the larger ski culture. The weeklong party is kind of like an exclamation point on moving toward an even more consistently positive and open vibe toward the LGBTQ community on the slopes, in the bars, and at the lodge.
We wish we could attend every gay ski week, but everyday life has a tendency to get in the way. And this certainly is a universal human experience. If only life were a non-stop party in which all the heavy lifting was done by, you know, a lift—except a lift that didn’t cost any money. Ah, a little boy can dream!!!
